Cotton twill, pvc pipe, and projected elements.
The two protagonists' tent provided the focal point for this simple set, with the cotton twill material extended into  a series of flats upstage onto which the magical forest of the girls' imagination was projected. The frames of both the tent and flats were constructed from lightweight PVC piping to facilitate quick assembly and disassembly, key to the festival format.

“I must leave this place. Find another. A different place altogether.”

Conceived as the creations of a desperate man attempting to create his own alternative world from whatever he can reach, the decision was taken to work with a limited palette of materials; cardboard, paper and halogen lights. A deceptively complex set, the stage directions called for a lot of dynamic elements. The seemingly haphazard piles of boxes needed to be designed to pull apart to reveal a lit city behind, and to operate as stand alone stacks down stage. The action required a working door in frame which could be carried by the actors. This was constructed in ight-weight timber frame and mdf to tie in with the overall cardboard theme.
